Our history

1945

Foundation

Hugo Lahme Sr. founds a company when he returns from war captivity. He produces the covering flux "Lamit" for metal melting, which he invented. In addition, the trained hand molder produced various aluminum parts such as cooking pots and irons in the foundry in his own house.

1960

Establishment of the mechanical workshop

The sons Hugo Lahme Jr. and Günter also work in the company in the meantime. A mechanical workshop is set up so that the castings can also be completely machined. This makes it possible to become a supplier to a major manufacturer of commercial dishwashers. The number of employees increases to ten.

1968

First touch points with swimming pool technology

Multi-port valves for filtration systems are cast from bronze on behalf of a water treatment company. As these valves are sold throughout the swimming pool industry, new requests come in for swimming pool installation parts, which were previously imported from the USA. Also, the first valves for countercurrent swimming systems are developed.

1970

Due to the 25th anniversary Lahme joined the BSSW

„Rise from the smallest beginnings“ is the headline of a report about Hugo Lahme senior, the company founder. Membership in the German Swimming Pool Industry Association - BSSW, today's bsw, follows. The production is further expanded and the city of Ennepetal offers an alternative location in the new industrial area of Oelkinghausen.

1972

Death of Hugo Lahme senior

The company founder Hugo Lahme senior dies at the age of 65. The company is transformed into a limited liability company. Hugo Lahme jun. and Günter Lahme become managing partners.

1975

Relocation to Kahlenbecker Straße

At the new location the first construction phase (administration, production, assembly, warehouse and social rooms) is inaugurated. Gunmetal pump housings for countercurrent systems are developed on behalf of a pump manufacturer, who purchases almost the entire annual production of swimming pool equipment. The number of employees is 25.

1980

Own brands FitStar® and AllFit® are created

The decisive step from a pure supplier of metal castings to a brand manufacturer is taken: An own sales program is established. Brand names: Fitstar® for countercurrent systems and AllFit® for built-in fittings.

1990

Expansion of production

Again, the company has grown so much that another expansion is necessary. A production hall is built over two floors with an area of approx. 1200 square meters. The number of employees increases to over 50.

1995

50th company anniversary

Fifty years after the company was founded, the company is well positioned for the future: Thanks to highly developed technology and innovative products made of high-quality materials, namely gunmetal and bronze, Hugo Lahme GmbH is one of Europe's leading manufacturers of swimming pool equipment. The number of employees is 70.

2003/2004

Construction and completion of the new foundry

Construction of a modern foundry began in 2003 and was completed in 2004. Reason enough to once again celebrate the new building and conversion project with all employees, friends of the company and invited guests.

2006

Death of Günter Lahme

On November 18, 2006, the managing partner Günter Lahme died suddenly and completely unexpectedly. With Günter Lahme, the company loses a icon who had significantly shaped the company over decades.

2007

Start for new brands VitaLight® & SpringFit® and also our own magazine H2O

In addition to the FitStar® and AllFit® brands, two new brands are born. A program for the fountain industry is marketed under the SpringFit® brand, while the VitaLight® brand stands for the comprehensive underwater lighting program. H2O, Hugo Lahme's customer magazine, is published in the fall of 2007.

2009

Werner Markenstein is appointed as additional managing director of Hugo Lahme GmbH at the beginning of 2009. A new assembly department for electronic controls and LED lighting goes into operation. The administration of the company Hugo Lahme has urgent need for additional office space and is also expanded.

2013

Death of Hugo Lahme jun.

On June 5, 2013, Hugo Lahme jun. passes away at the age of 79. Until his death, Hugo Lahme jun. was still a regular visitor to the company and showed his interest in all developments within the company.

2015

Various investments in machinery and buildings

Investments in more process-reliable and flexible production technology are taken forward with the acquisition of a new horizontal machining center and a 3D measuring machine. A highlight this year is the 70th anniversary trip with all employees to the Autostadt Wolfsburg.

2019

Kickoff PoolPlenum
